Chakra Harmony
A Visual Journey Through the Interconnectedness of Body, Mind & Spirit
"Chakra Harmony" is a contemplative gaze at the ancient concept of chakras. In his series debut, artist Oleg Char explores the flow of energy through our being and how it is intertwined with our physical and emotional states through the medium of black and white photographs of yoga pose silhouettes.
Each of the seven chakras is symbolized by a carefully selected yoga pose, representing a specific aspect of the human experience. From the grounding and security of the root chakra, to the spiritual enlightenment of the crown chakra - this series takes us on a journey through the different aspects of our energetic body.
The use of black and white imagery emphasizes the simplicity and purity of the chakra system, while the silhouettes add a touch of mystery and intrigue. These photographs are visually striking in hopes to inspire deep reflection and contemplation.
For those interested in spirituality, yoga, and the connection between the physical and energetic bodies, this series offers a visual feast for the soul. It is a reminder that we are not separate from the universe but rather an integral part of it, and that true peace and happiness come from balancing and harmonizing the flow of energy within us.
How each piece is created
Each piece is created and assembled by Oleg Shar. For the casing, he uses an aluminum welded frame with a black powder coat for durability and a matte finished look which guides each viewer through the journey of the piece. Next is a handmade glass neon tube that is placed in the gap between the edge of the frame and the mounted piece. The power supply is carefully hidden in the back and is completely invisible. Each neon corresponds to the color of the Chakra and acts as a light source to illuminate the art. The photographs of the yoga poses were all shot by the artist in a studio and are tied to specific Chakras. Oleg calls his process “painting with light” in order to get the desired contour effects of the body in its most beautiful and raw form. Each photograph is UV printed on Aluminum and is mounted on a wood back frame to a precise height in order to line up with the neon tube that surrounds and acts as a light source.

The intricate printing process and use of neon make each piece transform in appearance and ambiance depending on the time of day. In the light of day, the neon light takes on a secondary role, while the natural light reflects and dances off the aluminum surface, highlighting the artwork’s elegant curves and shapes. However, at night, the neon light takes center stage, illuminating the artwork and the surroundings and thus showcasing the dualistic nature of our existence.
Through his art, Oleg Char invites the viewer to contemplate the complexity and beauty of the human experience, evoking a sense of wonder and introspection.
The series consists of 7 pieces for the 7 major Charkas in 7 colorways.
