About the series
In Coalescence, Oleg Char works with restored antique mirrors, applying painted phrases to surfaces that carry traces of an earlier life. Reflections of the viewer and the surrounding room meet the words on the glass, joining past and present within a single image.
The work is completed through the act of looking. As the viewer moves, the relationship between language, reflection, and surface changes. Familiar phrases become personal questions, opening a space for attention, recognition, and self-reflection without prescribing a fixed response.
