About the series
From the Shadows explores the moment when an image begins to emerge from an unsettled surface. Through layered paint, expressive marks, and areas of removal, Oleg Char allows recognizable forms to appear and dissolve. The paintings hold the tension between what can be seen and what remains felt.
Figures, blossoms, and reflective surfaces become ways of approaching vulnerability, memory, and change. Shadow is both an atmosphere and a condition of uncertainty; light offers a moment of recognition without settling the image into a single meaning. The surface remains a record of that movement.
